MP supports ME management – January

skirbyAs patron to the Sussex & Kent ME Society, Simon Kirby MP has asked the Department of Health why there is no information in the NICE guidelines for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/Myalgic Encephalopathy on specific medications that are useful in controlling some of the symptoms of the illness.

Many doctors are keen to help CFS/ME patients as best they can but when referring to the guidelines find there is no guide on which medications are likely to be most affective in the management of symptoms such as nausea, cognition, pain, mood disturbance, gastric problems and sleep disturbance, etc. all of which need managing mainly by GPs.
