ME Treatment guidelines – May

During ME Awareness week (May 8 to 14) the Sussex & Kent ME Society that works for those affected by ME or Chronic fatigue syndrome is taking an important role in pressing for existing guidelines for the treatment of the illness to be expanded.

The Sussex & Kent ME Society working with the former Brighton Kemptown MP Simon Kirby has made representations to the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) requesting that pharmaceutical symptom management information be added to their guidelines.

Colin Barton of the ME Society says: “Particular medications can often reduce the impact of symptoms such as pain, sleep problems and mood changes and information on these medications should be included in the guidelines for doctors.”
