Mood Disorders – December

Having a chronic condition, especially one that may be poorly understood like ME/CFS, can have a very real psychological impact.  In addition we also know that body and brain interact in a variety of ways and there is increasing evidence that states that may predispose to ME/CFS like an overactive inflammatory/immune system or abnormalities of the fight or flight nervous system also can affect the brain and thus manifest as psychological difficulties like anxiety or depression.  If you are experiencing psychological difficulties it is well worth seeking help from your GP or other health professionals as effective treatments (such as medicines and talking therapies) do exist.       Dr Jessica Eccles
