Our Brighton based charity that is a leader in the field of Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME) or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) that can sometimes follow a viral infection (including Covid) or trauma is expanding and has a new website.
Sussex & Kent ME/CFS Society is a registered charity founded in 1987 in partnership with physicians and Members of Parliament. The organisation is run by volunteers often described as “A small team with a wide reach that punches well above its weight ” reaching thousands of ME/CFS patients, clinicians and carers across the region.
ME/CFS along with Long Covid (LC) and Fibromyalgia (FM) are chronic conditions affecting over 8,000 adults and children in the region. Symptoms vary and fluctuate, and can be made worse by over-exertion or stress. With good clinical management, many people can significantly improve with some able to move on to lead reasonably active lives. A large number however become housebound and in need of care for long periods.
The doctors who advise our organisation are some of the most qualified and experienced in the field who have assessed and managed those affected by ME/CFS for years.
The new website has had a full professional makeover and now considers those affected by Long Covid and Fibromyalgia.
